IFA 2017: LG V30 Smartphone

IFA 2017 showcases some of the best consumer technology on the market, and is used by many major brands as a platform for new product launches.  The event in Berlin begins with 2 days of media and keynote speeches before opening its doors to trade and general public visitors.  As the event unfolds I will bring you news of any travel related Tech.

LG V30

LG have always done their own thing when it comes to Smartphones, aiming for a more unique experience in a sea of similarly equipped handsets.

With the V30, LG have achieved not only a strikingly beautiful handset, but a dual lens camera with more settings than you will know what to do with!

A 6″ P-OLED touchscreen display, sealed in Gorilla glass, dominates the styling.  Despite LG having strong offerings in both TVs and Monitor displays, they have never really moved that “wow” factor over to their smartphones! Usually a status held by Samsung devices.   That has now changed thanks to the V30, thanks in part to the super slim bezel around the display and no physical front facing buttons.

The big selling point for the V30, or why some might be tempted to move from their current devices, is the camera!

A dual lens set up consisting of a 16MP and a 13MP wide angle sensor, give the V30 a powerful offering.  Yet the real benefit for the user comes from within the software of the camera.  There are a selection of over 12 different shooting modes to choose from including Slo-Mo, Grid, Cine Video, Panorama and even a Food setting!!

Another feature is called Point Zoom.  With the V30 instead of zooming in and out of the centre of the “viewfinder” area, tap the screen where you would like the zoom to focus on and it zooms to that point.  This will be hugely useful to those who use their device to capture Facebook Live or YouTube content, maybe using a smartphone rig.

LG are not new to the dual lens systems on smartphone and hopefully this will be their best yet, as users have more control over their camera, and can even shoot in RAW!

Specifications

This is a flagship handset and will be doing battle with the Galaxy Note8, the yet to be released next Gen iPhone and the new Essential PH-1 so needs to impress on paper!

The LG V30 has no official sale date and is not currently open to Preorders.  You can sign up for updates via the LG website.
