IFA 2024

Held annually in Berlin, IFA is the most significant tech event after CES and the largest of its kind in Europe.

Unlike many industry events, IFA is open to the public, providing a rare opportunity to experience the newest technology, gadgets, and accessories hands-on.

Before the public opening, media days and side events like Showstoppers allow journalists to review new devices before the general public—last year’s event attracted 183,000 attendees from over 130 countries.

While 2023 was quieter, with some big names still adjusting their marketing budgets post-COVID, IFA 2024 promises to be a different story as it celebrates its centennial.

Celebrating a Century of Innovation IFA 2024

Originally, IFA stood for Internationale Funkausstellung, but it has since been rebranded as “Innovation für Alle” or “Innovation for All”. This rebranding includes a fresh visual identity featuring bold neon colours.

Yet, despite these changes, IFA remains one of the busiest tech events of the year. Numerous product launches are expected, particularly in the travel gadget sector, and there is even a Bryan Adams concert to look forward to.

Being 2024 and a tech event, I expect everything to be AI-powered or AI-driven.

Wearables are very much in vogue, so we can anticipate a plethora of smartwatches, smart rings, and other health-tracking devices across the 26 halls, encompassing 130,000 square metres of exhibition space.

AI will also be a key feature in many translating devices, which have become a staple at IFA. With the new Qi2 wireless protocol now mainstream, there will be no shortage of innovative portable power solutions on display.
