The Covid pandemic has battered every industry, and tech conferences are no exception, but organizers and exhibitors are ready to return with new variants no longer being a concern. After the disappointment of having to cancel last year, IFA Berlin 2022 is now confirmed.

IFA Berlin 2022

It’s the news any tech or gadget fan wanted to hear; IFA Berlin 2022 is going ahead as a FULL IN-PERSON event this September.

At the start of this year, the CES organizers did their best to get tech conferences back on track. Still, just a few weeks before they opened the doors, the Omicron variant swept the globe and resulted in a significantly scaled-back event in Las Vegas.

Two-thirds of IFA’s Top exhibitors have already confirmed their attendance, with a huge number of exhibitors planning to return at the same scale as in 2019, the last IFA year before the pandemic.

The reason why IFA going ahead is vital though, is because it’s open to the public. Most tech events are trade only, whereas IFA lets everyone get up close and hands-on with the newest gadgets and technology.

And the good news is that demand for exhibition spaces is strong, with IFA claiming, “All major retail groups have confirmed that they will be in Berlin, ready to see the action.”

It was upsetting to see vast open spaces during CES as brands pulled out at the 11th hour, but IFA will, hopefully, now be a very different and busy show.

Return of the Big Brands

While I enjoy meeting the smaller start-ups and testing out their new products, the backbone of these events will always be the big brands.

Their booths are often huge, with so many new devices, most of which I can use and experience right there, and it seems most of them will be returning to IFA this year.

Some brands, such as Lenovo, even have their own events running just before or at the start of IFA somewhere else in the city to further highlight all of the new tech they are showcasing during the IFA week.

During its Tech Life event at IFA 2019, Lenovo showcased over 20 new products, including smartphones and high-end laptops.
