IFA 2025: Luna Ring Gen 2 launches globally with LifeOS AI

IFA 2023

IFA 2025 News

Luna has officially launched its second-generation smart Ring, the Luna Ring Gen 2, onto the global stage following its earlier unveiling at CES 2025.

The wearable health-tech brand, which pitches itself as a human-first company, is now rolling out its latest device worldwide, with availability confirmed in over 70 countries and Amazon distribution set to follow next month.

This marks the first time the Ring is available beyond pre-orders, after strong interest earlier in the year. By making its debut at IFA Berlin, Luna is signalling just how important Europe will be for its expansion.

At the centre of this launch is LifeOS, Luna’s new operating system that sets the Ring apart from many of its rivals. LifeOS is designed not just to collect biometrics, but to interpret them in context. By combining circadian rhythm science, behavioural patterns, and environmental factors, it creates what Luna describes as a “living intelligence” layer.

This isn’t about raw data; it’s about personalised guidance that adapts to the wearer’s day-to-day life.

That adaptive approach is made possible by training LifeOS on more than one billion sleep events, giving it one of the deepest datasets in the smart ring space.

The result is contextual insights into peak performance times, recovery, stress resilience, and sleep quality. Luna claims the OS can even adjust recommendations based on external cues, such as work schedules or patterns in messaging behaviour.

Powered by a redesigned charging case, the Battery life is another headline. Luna Ring Gen 2 offers over 21 days of use, placing it among the longest-lasting smart rings currently available. The case itself carries a 580mAh cell, rated for up to 30 days of standby power, meaning the Ring can be recharged multiple times before the case itself needs topping up.

IFA 2025, running from 5–9 September at Messe Berlin, is Europe’s biggest annual consumer technology show. It’s a key date for travel-tech enthusiasts, where brands unveil new gadgets, smart luggage, and connected gear designed to make life on the move easier.

The event welcomes both industry and the public, offering hands-on time with products that could transform your next trip.

For comparison, the Ring alone is rated for five days on a single charge, with a full recharge taking around an hour. This combination makes it a rare wearable that genuinely suits longer trips without constant charging anxiety.

Alongside the OS and battery, the Ring introduces the Luna AI 2.0 assistant, a conversational system that builds on user feedback to provide proactive suggestions. These range from sleep and recovery optimisation to workout recommendations and energy management.

The device logs structured activities such as running, cycling, and walking, while also monitoring heart rate zones, calories burned, and daily movement patterns.

Health and wellness remain at the core. The Ring tracks fertility by detecting physiological shifts, including temperature changes and recovery trends, offering predictive insights for cycle phases. Stress management is tackled through a combination of heart rate monitoring, recovery data, and temperature shifts, aiming to flag early warning signs of burnout.

Sleep analytics are also expanded, covering efficiency, circadian rhythm alignment, disturbances, and respiratory performance.

Luna 2.0 represents a step-change in what a smart ring can do, with LifeOS, we’re moving beyond passive health tracking into an era where your ring actively helps you make better decisions for performance, recovery, and long-term health.

On the hardware side, the Luna Ring Gen 2 is crafted from durable titanium with a PVD coating, a non-allergenic inner moulding, and 5 ATM water resistance, making it safe for swimming and showers.

Dimensions measure 8mm wide and 2.9mm thick, with a weight of 3 to 5 grams depending on size, placing it among the lightest wearables in its category.

The case itself weighs 3 to 4 grams and is built from acrylic, ABS, and aluminium alloy. Connectivity runs on Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0, and firmware updates are delivered automatically via the Luna app for iOS and Android. Sensors include optical heart rate, blood oxygen, temperature, PPG, and a 3-axis accelerometer.

For travellers, the combination of extended battery life and adaptive intelligence could make this Ring particularly appealing. A device that lasts three weeks between charges is better suited to long trips, while personalised insights may help mitigate jet lag or disrupted sleep routines.
