News: Uber UK Giving Day

Regardless of whether you use Uber or not, this weekend UK residents in selected cities can make use of the Uber service to donate unwanted items to charity!  So if you are not lucky enough to be travelling today, why not have a clear out and help a great cause!

Uber UK Giving Day

Between 12-5pm on Saturday 2nd June the Uber app will enable us, the customers, to make use of any spare local drivers to collect our unwanted items and donate them to charity.  This year Uber have teamed up with Cancer Research UK.

If you have visited or walked past a Cancer Research UK shop you’ll be aware they accept most items that are in a good, clean sellable condition.  This includes, but not limited too:

“We’re proud to help provide reliable rides for millions of people across the UK at the touch of a button, but we want to do more. With a network of millions of riders, this weekend we’re using our technology to help you give something back.

We’re offering you an easy way to donate clothes, accessories and other items to one of Cancer Research UK’s shops across the UK to help beat cancer sooner, using the Uber app.” ~ Uber

How Does it Work?

Firstly, this will only work in the following UK cities during the time period.

Open the Uber app (AmazonAndroidiOSWindows), select uberGIVING on the in-app card, request a pick up.  Then, if there is a local driver free they will come to your location and collect your items, free of charge to you! Simple!
