Lenovo had a very impressive Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, this year! With a range of awards to show for a strong line up of consumer and business devices ranging from Mainframes to AR headsets. Yet it was their mobile computing and smartphone devices that most impressed me!

Lenovo Yoga 730
This new 2-in-1 laptop/tablet convertible is a modest, yet noteworthy, upgrade to its predecessor, the 720! Coming in either 13 or 15″ screen sizes, the new Yoga 730 brings more power, a better viewing experience and the flexibility between power and mobility!
Whats New?
The main upgrade for the 730, is the processor. With both models moving up to the latest 8th generation Intel Core i7 chip. This is a bigger leap for the 15″ model, which previously only ran the 7th Gen version.
Despite the additional power provided by the new processors, the 2018 Yoga 700 series has Rapid Charge! If it meets Lenovo’s benchmarking figures of 2 hours of power from just a 15 min charge, added with Intel’s quoted better power efficiency from the new processors, then you should never be caught short without power again.
Enjoying media while on the go should be a pleasure due to the UHD IPS touchscreen on the 13″ and FHD IPS on the 15″. Pair this with the JBL Speakers and multiple ways you can bend the unit will result in an all round great viewing experience.
Not to long ago I would always complain about Lenovo displays. I found them built for spreadsheets and little else. As the brand have diversified their offerings the displays across the board have become better and you can really see the difference on these!
2-in-1 convertible laptops are a great choice for travellers who have trouble deciding between a notebook, a tablet or packing both! But just because you are on the road it doesn’t mean you can’t bring your home tech with you! The Yoga 730 has Amazons Alexa built-in to the Windows 10 Operating System (OS), and with multiple microphones added for better voice recognition, Alexa should hear you wherever you are!
Of course if you are better friends with Cortana, the Microsoft voice assistant is also available.
Specifications
Overall, the 730 is a good step up, and if it can achieve the performance quoted by Lenovo then it can be a serious contender for any traveller due an upgrade this year!
Not so long ago 2-in-1 devices were too big and bulky to justify a replacement of a tablet, they were more a flexible notebook! But with the 13″ model down to just 1.12kg (from 1.3kg on the 720) and a slimmer profile, if you need a ‘best of both’ option, this could be the device for you!
The specifications will vary depending on model and configuration you choose.
Price
The 13″ and 15″ Yoga 730 models will go on sale in April 2018. The expected starting retail prices will be €999 for the 13″ and €1099 for the 15″, both prices include the Lenovo Active Pen 2.
