AirPods Pro are Apple’s flagship portable audio option unless you’re talking to someone crazy enough to have paid for the $549 asking price on a pair of the AirPods Max, in which case they will try to convince you those are the best!
And, if you thought a three-year wait would result in Apple delivering a very different Gen 2 than the Gen 1 model, you’ll be disappointed! But for once, I think Apple has made the right call.
The design and styling work as every other brand is trying to copy it, and instead, they have focused on performance and longevity in the battery life. This is good!

The most significant upgrade for the 2nd Gen AirPods Pro is the inclusion of the brand new Apple H2 chip. Whereas the previous model and the latest AirPods 3rd Gen both run on the older H1, AirPods Pro 2nd Gen promises a “new audio experience with exceptional sound quality and low distortion”.
Spatial Audio has now become personalised with a cool new feature using the TrueDepth camera on an iPhone. With a quick scan of your face and then ears (which is easier said than done), iPhone creates a personalised profile to improve the listening experience. These features will work with the 1st Gen AirPods Pro too.
As for the Active Noise Cancelling performance, Apple is promising “double the power” over the 1st Gen buds, which can only be a bonus, as they were good, but far from the best performing buds for the price.
The new 2nd Gen AirPods Pro will ship with four sizes of silicone ear tips, Xs, S, M, and L, to ensure users get the absolute best fit and seal inside the ear.
With the power of the new H2 chip, AirPods Pro unlock breakthrough audio performance — including major upgrades to Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode — while also offering a unique way to experience Spatial Audio that’s even more immersive.

AirPods Pro 2nd gen are more intuitive and versatile thanks to the new force sensor, which delivers more gestures and Touch controls. Instead of a touch-sensitive area, the AirPods Pro 2nd gen has a force sensor on each stem, which is more responsive and brings volume controls.
A Smarter Charging Case
It’s not all the same with the MagSafe Charging case, as it brings two new physical features over its predecessor; a lanyard loop and a built-in speaker.
The Charger case is now compatible with Apple’s Find My network, and the exposed speaker on the base will play a high-pitched tone when it is being searched for.
Along with the 6 hours of playback the buds can deliver, the MagSafe Charging case can store 24 hours of power. There’s also a quick charger feature by placing the AirPods Pro in the case for just 5 minutes, and the case provides 1 hour of listening or talk time.
