The Apple MacBook Air M2 15″, unveiled at WWDC 2023, joins the 13″ M2 to broaden the Air lineup, marking the latest addition to Apple’s renowned MacBook family.

So, Apple is doubling down on the Air series, and it’s right to do so. I’ve recently swapped out a 16″ MacBook Pro for a 13″ M2 Air, and the difference is staggering. From a price-to-performance ratio, I’d argue it’s possibly the best notebook on the market at the moment.
However, while shifting from an Intel-based Mac to the M2 chip was a no-brainer, giving up the extra display space was a tough choice.
Apple has seen the potential for a larger Air model and now offers the MacBook Air M2 with a new 15.3″ display option.

The design of the first Air model Steve Jobs pulled from that envelope back in 2008 is long gone. Air notebooks began as wedge-shaped notebooks that tapered down to a thin point. Today the 13″ and this new 15″ M2 model resemble the MacBook Pro.
Albeit are thinner and lighter.
The new larger Air comes in four colours; Midnight, Silver, Space Grey and Starlight. It weighs only 1.51kg, a mere 270g heavier than the 13″ M2 Air and is only 0.02cm thicker at 1.15cm.
You’ll be disappointed if you’re looking for some big spec boosts on the 15″ model. This new notebook is about giving that screen real estate back to the user while maintaining a lightweight and portable machine that the Air is renowned for.
There are not even any additional Thunderbolt ports, despite having a larger chassis in which to add them to.
Apple has added additional speakers increasing the four from the 13″ model to a Six Speaker configuration with force-cancelling woofers and support for spatial audio. And the battery sees a modest increase to a 66.5-watt-hour lithium-polymer battery; however only performs nearly as well as the smaller 13″ coming in at up to 18 hours of use.
It’s worth pointing out that this is probably the biggest selling point of the M2-based Macs as a regular traveller. The battery performance on these machines is remarkable and can deliver a full day of use, even when I’m editing.
Many will go for this model due to the screen space and the spacious 15.3″ Liquid Retina display that, apart from the higher 2880 by 1864 pixel count, is identical to the 13″ model.
