Apple’s latest release on October 30, 2023, confirmed the Apple MacBook Pro M3 in 14″ and 16″ models. Ushering in the newest generation of Apple Silicon to power its top-end notebook.
Apple MacBook Pro M3
Apple continues its successful shift from Intel-based Macs with three new chips: the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max. All promise a leap in performance for the world’s best pro laptops, offering a new calibre of power and efficiency for a wide range of users.
The good news, along with marking a milestone moment moving into the 3-nanometer process technology, is the introduction of the Space Black Colourway to the Pro lineup.
Whereas the not-so-bad news is there’s little else that’s different from the M2 models, with only the M2 Pro & M2 Max being released only a few months back. At least on this launch, Apple has released all three chips in one go.

This advancement from M2 to M3 is not just an incremental update; it represents a significant stride in the capabilities of the MacBook Pro range. When the M1 first made its way into a MacBook Pro in 2021, users quickly moved off their Intel-based Macs to take advantage of the Apple silicon; now, the entry-level 14″ MBP M3 is 60% quicker!
Beyond the 14″ M3, there are two models for even more power-hungry users in the 14″ and 16″ variants featuring the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips. These models offer up to 128GB of unified memory, a feature that dramatically enhances multitasking efficiency, catering to the demands of 3D artists and specialists in machine learning.
The M3 chips show an advanced GPU architecture that promotes dynamic caching. This facilitates more intelligent and more efficient memory usage, ensuring peak performance. Notably, this marks Apple’s initial venture into hardware-accelerated ray tracing, enhancing graphical fidelity to the point of challenging one’s perception of digital and physical realities.
With the remarkable power-efficient performance of Apple silicon, up to 22 hours of battery life, a stunning Liquid Retina XDR display, and advanced connectivity, MacBook Pro empowers users to do their life’s best work

The enhancements extend to the Liquid Retina XDR display, the same found in the M2 models, but now offers a 20 per cent increase in brightness for SDR content, up from 500 nits in the M2 to 600 in the M3. Coupled with a 1080p camera and a six-speaker sound system, the MacBook Pro will deliver a more immersive multimedia experience.
The performance of the M3 chips is equally impressive regarding power consumption, as the new models deliver the same battery life as the M2, up to 18 hours. With the 16″ model, the battery life extends to 22 hours.
