When I reviewed the predecessor to the Pro 2 earbuds, I claimed that, at the time, it was tough to find another pair of wireless buds at the same price point with the same list of features. Edifier has upped the ante and introduced Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) technology.
The TWS1 Pro 2 Earbuds boast dual ANC modes, a High and a Low, allowing users to select the correct environmental level and save some battery power where needed. Edifier claims the TWS1 Pro 2 buds can remove up to 42dB of background noise!
Two 10mm dynamic drivers deliver audio that will produce the signature crisp, clear sound Edifier is known for.
Whilst the design is similar to the last TWS1 pro buds, there is a visible size difference with these new earbuds noticeably smaller. This may help produce better performance for the Wind Sheer Mode when used outside, as fewer of the bud’s surface area will be outside the ear.
However, size reduction typically comes with the loss of something else, and in this instance, it’s a slight drop in quoted power performance.
The previous model offered 12 hours of playback and a total of 42 hours of use in between charges, and the TWS Pro 2 has 6 hours of playtime and a total of 24 hours from the power stored in the case, but this is also a trade-off as ANC does require more energy. The upside is that charging is done via USB-C, and Fast Charge needs a 10-minute charge and provides 1 hour of playback.
But it’s not all bad news for the smaller form factor. There are now four microphones to support the ANC and provide better hands-free calls. The Bluetooth technology has been bumped up to the latest 5.3 version, and Edifier has introduced Wear Detection technology.
