Apps, Apps, Apps
Now we have sorted out your battery issues thanks to Part 1 of our festival survival guide, now you need to know the best apps to help you along the way.
Festival Own App
Before leaving home check to see if the festival has it’s own branded/built app. These usually contain line ups, maps of the sites and helpful info like charge points, toilets and emergency services.
Make sure it is a trusted or purpose built app, as some 3rd party ones can offer in-app purchases. Example here is Glastonbury 2016. iOS | Android Price: Free
Glympse
No one wants to waste their time looking for their friends while missing all the best bands. Glympse uses GPS tracking so you and your mates can find each other easily.
Build a group within the app and it can provide distance and time away from each other. iOS | Android Price: Free
Dropbox
Long weekend away with your mates, good music, lots of drinking and hopefully plenty of good times!
Set yourself up with a free 2GB Dropbox account and upload your photo and videos to your own personal cloud space. So even if you do lose your phone, the memories will be there waiting for you when you get home. iOS | Android Price: Free
British Red Cross
The First Aid app from the British Red Cross is one you should not need but for the sake of only 43mb of space, everyone should have it.
Covering all aspects of First Aid from minor injuries to emergency treatments. There are short videos and step by step guides to assist you in an emergency. iOS | Android Price: Free
SoundHound
There are a few music recognition apps on the market but we favour SoundHound. If you find yourself listening to a new band and want to know the song just fire up SoundHound and let the app tell you.
Tap the app and once it picks up the music you get all the info you need including albums, online videos and even lyrics. iOS | Android Price: Free
BBC Weather
With 7 day forecasts, the BBC weather app can help you plan ahead for what clothing to bring. Enter the postcode or area and keep an eye on the weather during the event.
Extreme weather warnings and flood alerts are all pushed through the app along with wind/rain/temperature readings. iOS | Android Price: Free
