Lenovo Yoga S940
My first press launch of #CES2019 was at the Lenovo stage. As usual, they had an event packed full of new tech, with many perfect for travellers. But, it was their new Ultra-Slim, feature heavy, S940 that drew my attention.
If ever there was a laptop made for the tech-savvy, security conscious road warrior, then the Yoga S940 could be it!
Features
At just 12.2mm thick, the Lenovo Yoga S940 combines an impressive hardware spec list with some soon to be released AI powered security features that protect, and enhance your user experience.
Inside, Lenovo have installed the 8th Gen Intel® Core™ i7 Processor for the top spec models, which can also go up to 16GB of memory and a maximum SSD drive of 1TB. All of which I’d consider as a strong enough config for use of an Ultra-Slim laptop in 2019!
To look at when closed, the Yoga S940 is a desirable device! Crafted from aluminum and then sandblasted, the iron grey unibody casing has a premium feel about it. But, open it up and, if you’ve chosen the 4k IPS HDR with Dolby Vision™display, you are in for a treat!
On both the 4K and standard FHD panels, the 14″ display has a minimal bezel and finished with contoured glass which curves around the edges and really does enhance the viewing experience which is powered by Dolby Vision™️!
At the start I mentioned the new security features. The Yoga S940 will be the first device from Lenovo that makes use of its AI Smart Assist function; a suite of 8 features designed to secure your device, and you, when working remotely!
Many of these new features are thanks to the IR Camera in that thin top bezel. Log-on to your laptop, hands-free, thanks to facial recognition! If you attend video calls you can now blur out your surroundings, leaving just a clear image of yourself to other attendees.
The ultraslim Yoga S940 offers elevated design with no compromise, featuring premium entertainment and a range of intelligent features designed to make your life easier. Enjoy hands-free login, eye-tracking AI that anticipates your needs, and more. ~ Lenovo Press Room.
The new IR cam can even detect people trying to view your screen behind you and gives an alert on the screen for you! Then just as you unlocked the machine with your face, if you look away from the Yoga S940 it dims the display until you look back.
My most anticipated feature, though I’ve not tested it yet, is the real time language translator! The expectation is that the during voice/video calls on your S940 Smart Assist will help to break down the language barriers! Which languages will be supported is still to be confirmed.
Smart Assist will be pushed out to other Lenovo devices later in 2019 via the Lenovo Vantage app.
