I find GoPro tend to give us a big announcement with great new kit every so often, then sit back and go quiet while they let their products be seen with all their “GoPro athletes” doing the things most can only dream of.
Well this approach works very well for them, and despite stiff competition, they remain the market leader in action cameras.
GoPro Hero 5 (Black & Session)
The new range of cameras, the Hero 5, are now with us bringing some welcome improvements to the previous Hero 4 models.
The Hero5 Black is the new flagship model and comes with some impressive new features, encompassed in a rather nice new exterior casing:
- 12mp photos inc. RAW + WDR
- 4k video recording at 30fps
- 10m Waterproof without the need for the usual housing
- Wifi + Bluetooth
- 2″ LCD touchscreen as standard
- Built in GPS
- Voice control
Most GoPro owners usually have a box of accessories in tow when out filming and the biggest item will always be the waterproof housing previous versions have needed. The 5 is now waterproof to 10m which is more than enough for most casual users/divers.
The Hero5 Session is the little sibling to the Black version and will be £100 less on launch, but the features are near similar.
- 10mp photos
- 4k video recording at 30fps
- 10m Waterproof without the need for the usual housing
- Wifi + Bluetooth
- Video Stabilization
Both of these have been added to the original Session model which gives GoPro 3 price points for their full range.
Hero5 Black will be £349.99 (from October 2nd)
Hero5 Session will be £249.99 (from October 2nd)
Hero Session is £179.99 (on sale now)
