Samsung Galaxy Tab S6

Just a few days before their Unpacked event for the expected Note 10 smartphone, Samsung has announced the Galaxy Tab S6.

This time around, Samsung has delivered some upgrades that will move their latest tablet into the ‘Profesional Grade’ bracket. Taking on both Apple and Microsoft who both already have tablets capable of tempting users away from a Laptop.

Features

Externally, the new Galaxy Tab S6 does share many similarities of the incumbent Samsung flagship tablet, the S4.

A nice thin bezel wraps around the 10.5″ Super AMOLED Display, which I am now convinced is the best size for a pro tablet. I enjoy the space on my iPad 12.9″ screen but find the device just too big to get out and use, when on the move.

Galaxy Tab S6 enables consumers to unlock their creativity, while delivering the top-quality productivity features and advanced technology they have come to expect from Samsung tablets.

In a first for Samsung, they have built-in the optical fingerprint scanner under the display. This removes the need for a physical button within the bezel allowing the same sharp display as the S4 into a smaller frame.

To the rear of the tablet is a new magnetic and wireless charging dock (groove) for the included new S Pen will be kept.

Make a Point with the New S Pen

The S Pen itself has seen an upgrade, with Bluetooth connectivity so it can double as a wireless controller over a 10m distance for certain activities on the tablet.

However, without a case, I’m not sure how confident I’d be pulling the Tab S6 in and out of my bag with the S Pen staying in place! And, is it meant to act as a stand when the Tab S6 is laid flat on a table and the S Pen not in use?

Having the S Pen connect and charge from the tablet is the right move, but the positioning of it seems odd.

Another first for Samsung is the dual-lens camera at the rear of the device. A wide and ultra-wide lens array brings a promise for more ‘professional’ photos to a tablet.

How many users that would rely on a tablet camera is one thing, but it’s great to see Samsung commit to such specs. After all, this is their new top-end tablet and should deliver in every area!

Better Performance, More Power

Inside, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 has a welcome power boost thanks to the Snapdragon 855 processor. There will be two configurations available for both the WiFi and LTE models when launched.

You will be able to choose from either a base model 6GB memory & 128GB storage or the top-end one which will have 8GB & 256GB. Both will come with a MicroSD card slot which will take up to a 1TB card.

Specifications

A strong line-up of specs and a very attractive entry price point could make the new Tab S6 a hit! To strengthen its case, the new S Pen is even included, although sadly not the keyboard case.

There will be 3 colour choices at launch, however, the Cloud Blue will not be available in the UK.

How Much Does the Samsung Galaxy S6 Tab Cost?

The Galaxy S6 Wifi only model will start at £530/$649 for the 6GB base model. Samsung has confirmed this will go on sale on 6th September.

If you prefer the LTE version, there is currently no pricing confirmed but it will hit the market at some time in 2019.

The S Pen is included in the price but the keyboard and cover are optional extras!
