Samsung Galaxy Note 10 & 10+
At another dazzling display at the Barclays Center in NYC, Samsung showed off their latest powerhouse handset, the Galaxy Note 10 range.
In a new approach to their ‘phablet’ flagship, Samsung decided to break away from just one model to a two size range.
The 10 is slightly smaller than the previous 9 model, possibly to entice more users to the big-screen market. Meanwhile, the new 10+ steps it up a gear for current Phablet fans with an even bigger screen.
Features
As was expected, 5G connectivity has made its way on to the Note range. But, to make the most of the network speed they’ve supercharged the power and capabilities of both models to get everything they can from the 5G connection.

The processor has increased to a maximum 7nm 64-bit Octa-core and 12GB of RAM. That is a huge amount of power for a mobile device, and what, Samsung believes, will help us utilise all the new features within.
Inspired by a generation that flows seamlessly between work and life, the Galaxy Note10 gives users the freedom to work the way they want and showcase their creative spirit, all on-the-go.

From the front, both models have that, now trademark, glorious Infinity display that will no doubt give other device owners plenty screen envy.
Infinity Display & Storage
At the smaller end the new, shorter, Note 10 has a 6.3″ Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O Display and shares the same internal power as its bigger sibling.
It differs in memory with the LTE model having 8GB and the 5G version coming with 12GB.
Meanwhile, the 10+ takes its Quad HD+Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O Display up to a huge 6.8″. Should you need additional storage the 10+ can be upgraded to 512GB onboard storage.
But with both models coming with a microSD slot that can support up to a 1TB card, make sure you really need that space before paying out the extra cash.
Both versions of the 10+ have 12GB of RAM.
The other major difference is the main rear cameras. Samsung has made a big effort not just with the hardware, but also the software performance.
How Many Cameras do you Need?
A decent camera is vital for any traveller and the Note 10 range is going to be tempting for many. Both models share the same 10MP Front Facing camera, but there is a clear difference at the back.
- Ultra-Wide: 16MP F2.2 (123°)
- Wide-angle: 12MP 2PD AF F1.5/F2.4 OIS (77°)
- Telephoto: 12MP F2.1 OIS (45°)
- DepthVision Camera: VGA (10 + only)
Where the smaller 10, has a Triple Lens set-up, the Plus model has a fourth, Depth Vision camera to bring background blur to live videos.
The Note 10 Range supports video bokeh and built-in video stabilization, promising better mobile video with less time needed editing.

Internal Power
Putting size aside, the Note 10 handsets share other similarities. They both run Android Pie (9.0) and have an integrated behind screen fingerprint reader.
One area where the Note 10 has taken a step back is in battery capacity, with a smaller 3,500mAh pack. For reference, Note 9 had a 4,000mAh battery.
Superfast wired charging is to be found on the 10+ only. Its 4,300mAh battery pack needs a 30-minute charge for a ‘promised’ all-day power boost!
New S Pen Transforms how you’ll use the Note 10
The new S Pen that was recently announced with the Galaxy Tab S6 is the same one now found in the Note 10 range. Supporting Air Actions, the new S Pen is a Bluetooth controller for your handset.
A 6-axis gyrosensor inside the S Pen has transformed the humble stylus into a gesture control device.
And if the demo, during the event is anything to go by, this could be a game-changer for the solo traveller or blogger who likes to capture video or photos.
As with previous models the S Pen is stored inside the Galaxy Note 10.
Not all Good News
Sadly, Samsung chose not to include a headphone port on the Note 10. I understand why manufacturers are moving away from the humble audio socket.
But for consumers, especially those travelling a lot, it’s still a vital inclusion for any media playing device.
Difference Between Galaxy Note Models
It’s worth noting, that the Note 10+ is going to feel huge for many standard-sized smartphone users. And if you still need more screen, you could try the Galaxy Fold!
But with that size comes a whole lot of performance for the new Samsung Note 10 range.
