Targus Cypress Hero Backpack joins the Find My® Network

When Apple opened up its Find My® Network to third parties, this was great news for frequent travellers, and the Targus Cypress Hero Backpack is the latest addition to this exclusive list.

Targus Cypress Hero Backpack

Targus gives travellers two reasons to feel good about its new Cypress Hero Backpack. Firstly, it’s part of the Eco-friendly luggage lineup that Targus offers, having used 26 recycled water bottles mixed into the fabric weave.

Secondly, the backpack is on the Apple Find My® Network so you can use that spare AirTag for something else!

Apple opened up its tracking and locating network to third parties in April 2021, and now any devices or luggage that are part of the Apple Accessory Program will have their items show up in the Items Tab, just like an AirTag.

Sadly there is still no support for Android devices!

Features //Targus Cypress Hero Backpack

The 22L Capacity Cypress Hero boasts three storage compartments; a rear-mounted laptop sleeve capable of holding any notebook up to 15.6″, a main storage middle section and a slim front compartment pocket that is home to smaller pouches and a mesh zipped pocket.

At the front of the backpack is a semi-concealed quick stuff pocket for smaller items or travel documents that must be kept close to hand while navigating the airport.

The eco-friendly outer material comes in a grey colourway only. It gives no signs of being crafted from recycled materials, whilst at the rear is a black triple-layer foam back panel to keep the airflow to a maximum and help avoid a sweaty back. There’s a luggage strap running across the back panel to fix the Cypress Hero Backpack to a carry-on case handle.

Both the shoulder straps and top grab handle are padded for additional comfort. However, the big draw for this Targus backpack is the addition of the Apple Find My® Network being built in.

Find My® Network

Many travellers who are Apple users have one, if not more, AirTags stashed in a case, carry-on or backpack. It is possibly the most cost-effective and easiest way to monitor your belongings.

Targus has built a water-resistant module into the top of its backpack with Low Energy Bluetooth® inside, enabling it to use and connect to the Find My® Network, just like an AirTag does.

And, just like an AirTag, the Targus module has a replaceable coin cell battery with around a one-year lifespan, claims Targus.

Connecting the Cypress Hero backpack to the network is also straightforward. Using the Find My app on an iPhone, iPad or Mac, select ‘Add other item’, and the app will scan for any new devices. While it is doing this, users should press down on the module until the backpack shows up in the app as a new item.
