“This photo was taken at Doi Angkhang, a quiet mountainside retreat that has yet to be discovered by mass international tourism. Once rife with poppy plantations, a concerted effort by the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej in the 1960s helped encourage the local hill tribes to cultivate temperate climate plants like strawberries, kiwis and tea. Today, this region offers locals a chance to get away from the stifling heat of Chiang Mai and the rest of tropical Thailand.”  ~ Gary.
