CES 2023 News: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11
In the weeks leading up to CES, Lenovo teased us with a few new products, one of which was the 11th Generation ThinkPad X1 Carbon which, for me at least is its flagship model.
The Lenovo catalogue has a laptop for every user, occasion and budget, including the more expensive X1 Nano. Yet, it’s the X1 Carbon I feel is the best all-rounder Lenovo offers for frequent and business travellers.
With the new 11th Gen, Lenovo has given some modest updates on the previous model and, more importantly, aligned it with their Net-Zero by 2050 target and introduced recycled metals into its build process and moved the X1 Carbon over to its bamboo and sugarcane fibre packaging
New Features
For the 11th Gen, there’s no big announcement for a hardware upgrade; instead, Lenovo continues to enhance the user experience for business & hybrid work travellers through improved software features.
The new X1 carbon will be upgradeable to run on the latest Intel® Core™ i7 processors and offer configurable options on memory and storage up to 64GB and 2TB, respectively.
A 14″ OLED display with 400nits of brightness will be encased in a super slim bezel giving the maximum amount of useable display for the size of the X1 and helping to keep the weight down to a backpack friendly 1.12kg.
As with all ThinkPads, the 11th Gen X1 Carbon has productivity and security at its heart.
In a world where video calls are the norm, Lenovo has included Dolby Atmos audio and Dolby Voice with AI noise cancellation for clearer voice recognition and has included ThinkShield for enhanced hardware and software security.
The new generation of ThinkPad X1 has delivered without question with innovative and intelligent software-driven features, performance-focused hardware engineering and a customer-centric design ethic.
Lenovo
Internally, the machine will come with Windows 11 as standard and boast apps such as Lenovo View, an app designed to improve your digital wellness and work with the low blue light-emitting displays to reduce eye strain.
Finally, if the green credentials of your device are important, you’ll be pleased to know Lenovo has built the X1 Carbon ThinkPad 11th Gen on 90% recycled magnesium and 55% recycled aluminium.
