Apple Watch SE 2022
The first generation of Watch SE was about Apple giving users a choice of Smartwatches. Many manufacturers have various models, different styling and even distinct purposes.
Apple gave the SE a very similar look and feel to the Watch 6 Series when it launched in 2020, but there was one big difference. The price.
And the original SE was one of Apple’s best launches that year. Giving consumers an entry-level device at a reasonable price point and even opening the experience up to children without an iPhone thanks to Family Set-Up.

As with its predecessor, Watch SE 2022 is all about giving the core Apple Watch experience without the premium price tag and this new generation is closer than ever to its bigger sibling the Watch 8.
Watch SE retains the smaller 40 or 44mm Retina OLED display options, last seen on Watch Series 6 as Series 7 onwards moved to 41/45mm models. There is no Always-On option either on the SE 2022.
The biggest difference between SE and Series 8 is the selection of sensors to keep the price down. Watch SE 2022 will come with only the second-generation optical heart sensor.
But it’s not all bad news! The same dual-core processor from the Watch 8 and Ultra will power the SE 2022 along with the new Crash Detection feature and international roaming.
Styling
Along with three new casing colours, Watch SE 2022 has a redesigned back case, made from a nylon composite material, that now matches the rest of the case, which remains unchanged.
Watch SE will be compatible with all current and future Apple bands designed for 40/44mm casings.
As with the other Watch models, the SE 2022 is swim-proof and can be submerged up to 50m.
Apple again stressed during the launch that Watch SE is the perfect introduction to Apple Watch and for Family Setup.
And, with the smaller display casing, Watch SE and Family Setup make a great combination for younger family members who don’t yet own an iPhone.

The new Apple Watch SE 2022 will start at $249/£259 for the 40mm GPS version and $329/£349 for the larger 44mm GPS+Cell specification, both priced with standard straps.
