Apple has unveiled the Apple Watch Series 9, which boasts new features and marks an environmental milestone for the company.
The Series 9 includes improvements like a more powerful S9 SiP chip, a convenient double tap gesture for one-handed use, a brighter display, on-device Siri with health data access, Precision Finding for locating iPhones, and more.
Notably, throughout the event, Apple wanted to show its sustainability credentials. It offers a carbon-neutral option for all Apple Watch models, aligning with its commitment to becoming carbon-neutral by 2030.

Watch Series 9 will run on watchOS 10, introducing various updates, including redesigned apps, new watch faces and a Smart Stack feature, cycling enhancements, and mental health support tools. It is powered by the new S9 SiP chip (System in Package), which delivers improved performance and capabilities compared to the Series 8, improving both speed and efficiency.
The Series 9 boasts a brighter display with a maximum brightness of up to 2000 nits, double that of the Series 8. Apple says this enhancement ensures that users can easily read the screen even in bright sunlight. Additionally, the display can dim to just one nit in dark environments to avoid disturbing those nearby.
For the first time, customers can choose a carbon neutral option of any Apple Watch, representing a significant milestone toward Apple 2030: Apple’s plan to be carbon neutral across its entire business, manufacturing supply chain, and product life cycle by 2030.

For travellers, the Apple Watch Series 9 offers a game-changing feature called the Double Tap gesture. This intuitive gesture allows you to perform various tasks with just one hand without touching the watch screen. It’s perfect for stopping timers, controlling music playback, answering calls, using it as a camera remote, and accessing widgets effortlessly.
For the first time, Siri requests can be processed on the device without relying on Wi-Fi or cellular networks for specific tasks, leading to faster responses. Moreover, Siri can now access and log health-related data from the Health app, making it even more valuable for health and fitness tracking.
The Apple Watch Series 9 brings many new and improved features, including enhanced performance, innovative gestures, a brighter display, on-device Siri, and improved environmental sustainability. However, the design remains unchanged, with only minor “under the hood” upgrades.
