Firstly, it’s worth noting the original buds earned an impressive Five Star Rating when I reviewed them in February 2022, so the new Edifier NeoBuds Pro 2 Earbuds have a lot to live up to.
The first time around, Edifier got everything spot on with the NeoBuds Pro. Active Noise Cancelling that could match some of the premium models, a comfortable fit that made them feel custom-made to my ears, and then a price point of just $129/£119.
So, for the second generation, what has Edifier, a brand synonymous with cutting-edge sound, changed to elevate the listening and travel experience with the launch of the NeoBuds Pro 2?

Edifier’s new and patented Wide-Band Multi-Channel ANC technology can plunge noise cancellation depths to an astonishing -50dB and extend the bandwidth to 5kHz with the NeoBuds Pro 2.
But Edifier didn’t stop at just creating a bubble of silence. They’ve crafted an intelligent system that adapts to your surroundings. These earbuds will allow you to tailor the level of noise cancellation.
Using the same bespoke app (Android | Apple), users can choose from High, Medium or Low Cancellation or, if out and about, a new Wind Sheer Reduction.
For the audiophile on the go, sound quality is non-negotiable, and the new NeoBuds Pro 2, Edifier says, will deliver support for 192kHz/24bit music streaming over Bluetooth, a first for earbuds, thanks to the latest LHDC 5.0 HD codec.
The same Knowles balanced armature 10mm composite diaphragm dynamic drivers will power the NeoBuds Pro 2, and the Active Cross-Over feature will guarantee that every note is filtered into its perfect frequency.
Spatial Audio
Edifier’s immersive Spatial Audio support is further enhanced with visualised Head-Tracking technology, which will be like stepping into a new dimension of sound, based on the Edifier press release. With sensors to track your head movements, the audio will move as you do, creating a 3D soundscape. The Edifier Connect App (Android | Apple) will have a section to see this technology at work.
Similar to other premium earbuds, the NeoBuds Pro 2 offers wear detection that pauses and resumes playback when the earbuds are removed or put back on.
Case & Battery
The NeoBuds Pro 2 isn’t just about superior sound; they are about a great user experience. The case design echoes the sleek lines of a supercar, with a textured metal plate for the logo and a customisable LED strip light that can change to suit your style.
At the time of being published, the battery capacity sizes for the buds and case were unavailable. Still, with a quoted performance of up to 22 hours of battery life without ANC, Edifier may have stuck with the 40mAh (buds) and 500mAh (case) from the original.
A slight 2-hour dip in playback due to all the additional technology is one I can live with if the new features perform well! The charging case has a fast-charge feature that gives two hours of playback with just a 15-minute charge.
The same IP54 dust and splash resistance rating has been awarded to the Edifier NeoBuds Pro 2 Earbuds as the original model, therefore suitable enough to withstand the rigours of travel. A low-latency gaming mode ensures that even your virtual experiences are as immersive as your real-world adventures, and with seven different ear tips, comfort is guaranteed, no matter the shape of your ear.
