Samsung Galaxy S25 Series

Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy S25 Series, setting a new benchmark for what smartphones can do with AI but not so much with the hardware.

The S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra series were revealed during a keynote that showcased their features and emphasised AI’s role as a true companion in daily life.

Admittedly, Samsung did a great job of highlighting how the lineup caters to various user needs. However, with minimal improvement on the hardware for this iteration of the Galaxy S Series, will it be enough to have people pushing for an upgrade?

Samsung is using its advanced AI capabilities to promote the Galaxy S25 series, which has been tailored to enhance user experience through personalised and intuitive interactions. Central to this is the Personal Data Engine, which securely analyses on-device data to tailor features to individual preferences. This enables functionalities like natural-language photo searches in the Gallery and proactive daily suggestions via Now Brief, accessible through the Now Bar on the lock screen. Privacy is maintained, and Knox Vault protects all personal data.

Samsung also introduced multimodal AI agents capable of interpreting text, speech, images, and videos to the S25 series, which leads to more natural interactions. Enhancements to Circle to Search allow quick recognition of phone numbers, emails, and URLs on-screen, enabling immediate actions like calling or emailing with a single tap.

Additionally, Writing Assist offers features such as content summarisation and automatic note formatting without switching between applications.

This AI goodness is made possible thanks to the Snapdragon® 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, delivering a 40% performance boost in the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) compared to the previous generation. This enhancement supports more on-device AI processing, including tasks like Generative Edit, which was previously cloud-based.

S25 Samsung Galaxy S25 Series

The Galaxy S25 is the entry point into Samsung’s latest flagship series, offering a decent, compact, powerful smartphone experience. It features a 6.2″ FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, delivering vibrant visuals and smooth scrolling.

Powered by the Snapdragon® 8 Elite for Galaxy, it ensures seamless performance, bolstered by AI-driven optimisations that enhance speed and efficiency.

Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the Triple-camera system, which includes a 50MP main wide-angle sensor with advanced AI-assisted modes for capturing detailed photos in any setting, a 10MP Telephoto lens and a 12MP Ultra-Wide lens.

Based on the current competition, the 4,000mAh battery is somewhat underwhelming but comes with fast charging support. Will this be enough for a full day of use, though?

S25+ Samsung Galaxy S25 Series

Stepping up from the base model, the Galaxy S25 Plus offers a more versatile experience. It is built for users who want a bigger screen and additional features. It boasts a 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display, perfect for watching videos, multitasking, or gaming. Like the S25, it is powered by the Snapdragon® 8 Elite for Galaxy but has a higher storage base model, starting at 256GB.

The camera system is identical, with a triple-lens setup that includes a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens capable of 3x optical zoom. The battery is slightly larger than the S25 at 4,900mAh and supports fast charging, but with the larger display, there will be little to no additional performance.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra, a smartphone designed for power users and tech enthusiasts, is at the series’ pinnacle. Its expansive 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display supports QHD+ resolution and adaptive refresh rates ranging up to 120Hz, delivering an unparalleled viewing experience.

The Ultra is equipped with Samsung’s revolutionary 200MP ISOCELL sensor, allowing for stunningly detailed photos and 8K video recording.

The S Pen integration takes productivity to the next level, enabling users to jot down notes, edit documents, and sketch ideas directly on the screen. A larger 5,000mAh battery, coupled with Samsung’s new AI Power Manager, ensures the device intelligently optimises power usage based on user habits, providing extended battery life without compromising performance.
