{Tech} for Travel Says….
Hands-On Review: A budget price doesn’t always mean a sub-standard product and the wireless Edifier TWS1 Earbuds proves this. The battery life outperforms some of the flagship wireless earbuds on the market and is comfortable enough to wear for the full 32 hours they can deliver.
Edifier True Wireless Stereo Earbuds
Edifier pride themselves on premium audio products, mostly speakers, but have a rapidly expanding range of headphones which are worth a look the next time you’re in the market for a new pair.
The TWS1 earbuds represent Edifiers entry-level model into the true wireless market, and whilst they may appear low on many features, for the price, these are a terrific pair of buds.
Features
The standout features for these little wireless earbuds is the overall battery performance, both from the buds and the boost the case provides.
Then, there is the Bluetooth 5.0 aptX technology to provide a near lag-free playback of audio and some of the best touch controls I’ve recently used on a pair of earbuds.
All of which is wrapped up in a budget-friendly pair of well-made earphones that shouldn’t leave you disappointed.
Audio Performance
As an entry-level model, the Edifier TWS1 Earbuds are for casual users only and will not be winning over anyone who continuously is listening to their music, but during the review, they did make a good argument as to why you may want them.
With an 8mm driver unit in each bud, the TWS1 was never going to be the loudest or clearest sound, yet I found them adequate whilst out running or having a podcast on whilst working.
The snug fit plays a big part in keeping the audio in and although they support dual (stereo) or single (mono) bud use there was little difference in the playback itself.
Charging Case & Power
This is where these buds give you a return on your investment, power. During the review, I found that the TWS1 earbuds continually met the stated figures from Edifier when it came to playback time.
⚬ Review: Zendure Passport 2 Pro Travel Adapter
On a full charge, the wireless earbuds can provide around 8 hours of playback, even at a fairly high volume. But it’s the case which brings the big numbers. 24 hours of charge inside this small plastic case is really something.
Combined, those 32 hours exceed many of the top flagship buds on the market today!
Experience true wireless audio, while maintaining Edifier’s signature high-quality sound
Edifier
I managed a full week of video calls, music/podcasts on and off during the day and an hours run every evening before I needed to recharge the following weekend!
Design & Fit
You might think these budget wireless earbuds look bigger than others and granted, the photos both here and on the marketing back that theory up. But, in the ear, they do not protrude out that much.
I’ve been using the Edifier TWS1 earbuds for video conferencing during the review and while I can see them in each ear, for me they sit around 10mm outside of my ear.
The built-in microphone performed well with the Qualcomm cVc technology whilst sat in a quiet office but I doubt that performance will be replicated in a noisier environment.
However, hands-free calling is easier on the TWS1 than other buds in this price range thanks to those responsive touch controls!

The earbuds come in 5 different colours, which vary by which country you’re buying them in and finished in an LG Scratch-resistant casing.
It almost feels like the case will not last as long as the earbuds will due to the difference in build quality.
Specifications
What I liked during the Edifier TWS1 Earbuds Review was that while the case gave an indication to the more economical price point, the earbuds themselves felt more midrange.
The build quality is solid, the LG Scratch-resistant casing, whilst serving its purpose well, also feels premium to the touch and then there are the 32 hours of battery life!
A point to note for gamers; I used the Edifier TWS1 earbuds during my recent review of the Ugreen Bluetooth Adapter for the Nintendo Switch.
With both devices supporting Bluetooth 5.0 aptX low latency technology they were a great pairing for gaming on the go!

Prices vary depending on colour and place of purchase. The regular price for the Edifier TWS1 Earbuds starts from /£39 direct.
At the time of this review being published, Amazon had the White TWS1 Earbuds on sale for an amazing /£18.
Edit: And just like that they went back to £49. I suggest to either keep checking for deal prices or add them to you cart and Amazon will notify you of any price changes.
Final Thoughts…
During the review, I found the Edifier TWS1 Earbuds to deliver what you would expect from a budget focused pair of wireless earbuds. Very few premium features but lightweight and very comfortable to wear.
Where the Edifier earbuds did exceed the entry-level price tag is the battery performance and touch-sensitive controls.
8-hours from a single charge is a great return on your purchase but to get a further 24 hours from the case, means you can keep these in your travel bag and always be ready to go.
Regular readers will know I have a love/hate relationship with most touch-sensitive earbud controls, but the TWS1 earbuds worked very well and were easy to use every time!
True music fans might opt for a more premium pair of buds however at such a great price, the wireless Edifier TWS1 earbuds make a great backup pair for travel when on a budget, and you might even find yourself liking them more!
