Nebula Capsule Air Review
Portable projectors have become more advanced and in demand. Now that the technology is improving, becoming more affordable, and ultimately smaller, dozens of them were on show during CES 2025.
The Nebula Capsule Air has been designed as an all-in-one entertainment solution, home or away.
If size isn’t the only important factor for you, then the inclusion of Google TV over the older Android TV interface should pique your interest.
This means over 30k Google Play apps and all your favourite streaming platforms, including Netflix, in a small, pocket-friendly portable projector.

Features Nebula Capsule Air Review
Despite its cylindrical compact size and weighing only 650g, the Nebula Capsule Air delivers 720p HD resolution with automatic keystone correction, ensuring a well-aligned image even when projecting from an angle.
The 150 ANSI lumens brightness suits dimly lit environments, and the projection can reach up to an 80″ display.
One of the big selling points is the inclusion of Google TV; it allows users to stream content from apps like Netflix, YouTube, and Disney+ without needing an external device. Google Assistant support enables voice control, and a remote control is included, while built-in Chromecast makes streaming from a smartphone or tablet effortless.
The portable projector has a 5W built-in speaker, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and promises a movie experience whether you’re at home, in a hotel, or outdoors.
Capsule Air has an internal battery that offers up to 2 hours of playtime, enough for a standard movie. It charges via USB-C or can be extended using the optional NEBULA Capsule Power Bank Tripod or your power bank.
On the opposite side of the lens is a single power button, a HDMI port and a single USB-C port. On the top is a touch-sensitive control dial for on-device control. Alternatively, the NEBULA Connect App works just as well.

Picture Quality NEBULA Capsule Air Review
The best way to get started with the NEBULA Capsule Air is to set it up at home before you travel. If you’ve ever configured an Android smartphone, tablet, or TV, the process will feel familiar—connect to Wi-Fi and sign in with your Google account.
From unboxing to ready-to-watch, I was up and running in under ten minutes.
After a quick software update, I was straight into the interface, where key apps were already available in the app bar. I like to have a news channel on hand, so I downloaded my preferred app from the Play Store within a few clicks.
This impressively fast setup isn’t just down to the OS. It’s the real-time Autofocus and Keystone correction that make the difference. Both are enabled by default and work flawlessly, ensuring a sharp, well-aligned image without manual tweaking.

While the Capsule Air doesn’t support 4K resolution, its 720p display is surprisingly sharp for its size. Like most compact projectors, ambient light did affect the performance, and at 150 ANSI lumens, a dark room is essential. But once the lights were low, the viewing experience was genuinely enjoyable.
Several episodes into a Schitt$ Creek binge, I’d forgotten I was reviewing a projector. It was that immersive.
I expected the 5W internal speaker to be a weak point, but it held its own, even outdoors. With Dolby Audio it delivers a near-movie experience, which I found impressive for such a compact device. If you need anything louder, an external Bluetooth speaker can be paired with the Capulse Air.
The Snap-On base (included) with the Capsule Air transforms this projector into a proper “go-anywhere” device. Designed with a twist-and-magnetic lock system, it securely fastens to the bottom of the projector, adding about an inch in height while allowing for a 30° tilt.
When paired with Autofocus and keystone correction, it makes setting up the Capsule Air effortless. It adapts quickly to most spaces for the best possible viewing experience.

But here’s where it gets even better: when a flat surface isn’t an option, the Snap-On base has a fold-out hanging loop that securely holds the projector’s weight.
This means you can hang it upside down. Thanks to its built-in image correction, the Capsule Air automatically rotates the picture, so your content always displays correctly. If you’re using it in hanging mode, you’ll want to stick to the remote or app for controls, as reaching for the touch panel isn’t practical mid-air!
Available Content NEBULA Capsule Air Review
Google TV made a noticeable difference while testing the Capsule Air. Every media app I regularly use was included, along with the officially licensed Netflix app, a nice touch that saves the hassle of workarounds or sideloading.
There’s no storage slot, so all media needs to be streamed directly from the Capsule Air or cast via Chromecast or AirPlay from a phone, tablet, or laptop. That’s not a downside, though, it keeps things simple and ensures you always have access to your content.
And if you fancy something more interactive than a movie, the HDMI port makes it easy to plug in a Nintendo Switch or other gaming device. It’s a great way to take big-screen gaming on the go, whether in a hotel, an Airbnb, or just setting up a quick session wherever you are.
Battery life is the one thing that might cut your downtime short. Capsule Air delivered the quoted two hours of playback at full charge during testing with room-level audio. Outdoors, with the volume turned up, it was less.
I extended usage by connecting a high-output USB-C power bank, keeping the projector running. However, not every traveller will have a 45W power bank on hand, so it’s worth considering if you plan to watch longer sessions away from a power outlet.
Final Thoughts NEBULA Capsule Air Review
The Nebula Capsule Air delivers precisely the performance you’d expect at this price point and maybe even a little more. As a portable projector, it’s been designed to handle life on the road. The build feels solid and compact enough to slip into your bag without a second thought.
That said, knowing how delicate some of the internal components can be in projectors, I’d have liked to see a travel case included as standard.
Unfortunately, it’s not, but you can pick one up separately for around $40/£40. Honestly, it’s a small price to pay to keep the Capsule Air safe from knocks and bumps. The case is a must-have if you plan to take this projector on regular trips.
Performance-wise, it holds up well in darker environments. While it struggles in bright conditions (as expected for a projector this size) and with a two-hour battery life, you’ll only get one movie, at best, per single charge. The image stays crisp and vibrant up to the quoted 80″ screen size, making it perfect for movie nights, gaming, or streaming on the go. Add to that clear, immersive sound and multiple ways to control it, and the Capsule Air proves to be a user-friendly, travel-ready companion that punches above its weight.
