{Tech} for Travel Says….
Hands-On Review: Twelve South has delivered an elegant and stylish way to travel with your Apple Watch & accessories, in the TimePorter.Keep a power bank inside and you’ll never worry about bedside power in a hotel again.
Twelve South TimePorter
As Apple Watch, and other smartwatches become more integral to how we travel, such is the need for ways to keep them protected and charged.
TimePorter by Twelve South is a travel case for all models of Apple Watch. Based on a simple design, its a budget-friendly, smart and secure way to travel with all of your Apple Watch accessories.
TimePorter Review
I’ll be honest, when I first opened up the TimePorter my immediate thought was “it’s a nice glasses case”.
But, once I had loaded it up with my accessories and fitted the Apple Magnetic disc charging cable, I was already beginning to change my mind.

Keeping the design simple and the dimensions just right for cable fitting and band storage makes the TimePorter perfect for any Apple Watch and a traveller must-have case when away from home.
Case Design
On the outside the clam-shell case is wrapped in a Vegan-friendly Synthetic Leather, which is soft to the touch and has a slight sheen to the finish.
On the top is an opening for the magnetic disc charger to be fixed. When not in use, a red rubber stopper is connected to the inside so you can block the hole.
The inside is covered in a soft rubber coating that is durable and did not mark or leave indents when the TimePorter was full and closed.
What can you fit inside TimePorter? Everything you need to dress and power your Watch, including the extra-long Apple charging cable.
Twelve South
On the base are two rubber bumpers which create a storage section for straps, charger/plugs or a power bank. Around this is the cable management for the Magnetic Disc cable.
I still use the standard cable that ships with the Watch Series 5, and it fits perfectly around the cable management, both when using mains or portable power.
At either end there are small open sections for the USB end of the cable to run out from, allowing the case to close fully when being used on a power socket.
Power When You Need It
The cable management system is what makes the TimePorter frustration-free.
It’s simple and clearly measured out properly as I found it never came up to long or short. Whether I was extending it out to use wall power or had the cable fully wrapped up with a power pack.

And, the good news is the new Single Loop straps from Apple also fit around the TimePorter. So, if you want to add a power pack for on the go charging you can without the worry of your Watch falling off.
During the Twelve South TimePorter review period, I used the RAVPower Portable Charger 6,700mAh Power Bank. This battery pack had a very snug fit but didn’t leave space for additional bands.
If you need the portable power and space for a spare band or two then I’d recommend the new Zendure SuperMini 5K 5,000mAh Power Bank.

Final Thoughts…
Out of all the tech and cables I travel with, its the MacBook Pro or Watch chargers I fear forgetting somewhere, the most. Not only due to the cost, but I rely on both heavily.
The Twelve South TimePorter gave me peace of mind during the review whilst on a quick trip to Berlin.
Its appearance is Chic and sophisticated, yet has a big enough presence, that on that final look back before checking out, you’d notice it on the bedside table.
As with most Apple products, there are many brands coming up with accessories for each device, and the Watch Series is now getting plenty of attention.
The only problem with the TimePorter is that it’s designed specifically for travel with your Apple Watch, but looks good enough to make you want to keep it at home!
