I have covered Lat_56° many times here on {Tech} for Travel, and for good reason.  Their 2-wheeled carry-on Road Warrior is even featuring in my Back to Business Special that’s running this month.

So imagine my delight when the Premium Luggage brand from Scotland took to twitter earlier this month with the following two tweets:

Lat_56° and McLaren F1

Away from family life, tech and travel; my interests point to F1 & MotoGP!  So when one of the biggest names in motor sport, McLaren, made the following announcement about a new partnership with Lat_56°…… I couldn’t believe it!

McLaren is pleased to announce a new four-year partnership with LAT_56, the premium travel luggage brand. LAT_56, headquartered in Scotland and founded by award-winning designer Kevin Fox, joins McLaren’s partner roster in a multi-faceted agreement that sees the two companies enjoy both a partner relationship and a joint licensing agreement.

The partnership will see the entire McLaren race team carry LAT_56 luggage items from across its range as it embarks on the 2018 racing season and beyond. In addition to being seen in airports and the paddock at grand prix venues all over the world, this new and exclusive dual-branded ‘McLaren LAT_56’ range of premium travel products will also be sold as official licensed products, available to purchase online via the McLaren Store and LAT56.com.

The new ‘McLaren LAT_56’ collection, which includes suitcases, duffels, wheeled carry-ons, check-in bags, laptop bags, garment bags, briefcases, backpacks and wash bags, will launch officially in late November, after which the products will be available for pre-order ahead of the new season.

I have crossed paths with sports teams at airports many times.  They stand out due to their matching outfits and luggage.  And with c.100m global viewers for the biggest races on the calendar, the LAT_56° name will soon become a household one!

New Products

There will be a new dual branded collection, due to be released later this year.  If this brings new products, just new badges on current models, or a mixture of both is still to be seen.  The moment it is announced, I will have the coverage here!

I guess my 15 minutes of fame, when I am often stopped in business lounges with someone asking as to where I got my case from, might be coming to an end!

The travelling mechanics and support personnel are in for a treat next season when they pick up their new Lat_56° kit!
