News: Bose QC35 Announced

Take a flight, take the tube. Have a look at those with headphones on, there will be at least one person with a pair of Bose.  There is a very good reason for this. Bose are the market leaders in headphones and all things audio related.

They sound great, they look brilliant and have a very loyal following and for good reason, but their users have long been calling for a wireless version of the QC range, the market leading headphones in noise cancellation.

Last week in NYC Bose showed off the new QuietComfort (QC) 35 headphones at a press event.

With the sales pitch; Better Wireless. Better sound.  The QC35s take everything that makes the QC25 (Apple/Android & Samsung), it’s predecessor and the marketleader in noise cancelling headphones, into a wireless option. With talk surrounding mobile handsets looking to do away with the 3.5mm jack, the timing is great, and possibily a nod to the near future.

The battery life being quoted is 20 hours of use, which would cover you for any flight, but be warned it is not yet clear if this is with the noice cancellation turned on/off. This is by no means a show stopper but worth remembering, although the noise cancelling is optional.

The right hand side houses power, volume and play controls while the left has a 3.5mm jack…. wait, what? Yes, although these are wireless, Bose have included the jack incase you need/want to use a wired connection.

Interstingly, the microphone is now built into the headset. How well this will work over the “on cable” option is still to be seen. They have included 2 types of connectivity, Bluetooth and NFC.

Real world performance is still to be seen, but since the press event not only Tech sites like ours, but travel bloggers are also reporting on this release. Why? Well, despite looks and preference being a personal choice when choosing such tech as headphones, there is no denying frequent travellers and Bose headphones go hand in hand for a very good reason!

The QC35s come in Black or Silver and are available on pre order now for £289.95 with orders shipping from June 15th. Our first impression is how good the Silver headset looks, and well incorporated the controls are into the unit. Also unlike the QC25 which had different version to work on either Apple or Android, the QC35 works with both. We hope to bring you a full review on release!
