HONOR has introduced the new HONOUR 400 Lite 5G, a device that will bring powerful AI photography tools to more users at a very pocket-friendly entry price.
It arrives just months after the launch of the flagship HONOR Magic7 Pro, which I rated as the best Android handset of 2025 in my five-star review. This handset is doing great things for AI in smartphone photography.
Now, HONOR is extending some of its AI innovation into a more affordable bracket with the 400 Lite 5G, including a first-of-its-kind AI Camera Button on Android.

The standout addition is the physical AI Camera Button. A single long press opens the camera, and a short press takes a photo. Holding it down, the camera starts recording the video. It doubles as a shortcut to Google Lens, allowing users to interact with surroundings instantly, translate text, shop via barcode scanning, or instantly identify artwork and animals.
What HONOR expects to set this button apart from other camera triggers will be its seamless integration with tools like AI Eraser, AI Outpainting, Smart Vision, and Google Gemini, all brought together under a simple button.
A 108MP primary camera with an f/1.75 aperture on the rear, offering ultra-high resolution imaging. This sensor promises to work well in low-light scenarios and is backed by modes tailored for portrait work, such as Environmental, Classic, and Close-up Portrait. The second camera is a 5MP wide and depth sensor, helping to refine background blur and spatial effects in portrait shots.
The 16MP selfie camera will combine with the HONOR RAW Domain Algorithm to balance lighting extremes and prevent overexposure. It includes a selfie light to boost image quality in darker environments, claiming to give photos a cleaner and more polished aesthetic.
Under the hood, the phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7025-Ultra, an octa-core processor with two Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at up to 2.5GHz and six power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores at 2GHz.
The 400 Lite 5G also includes 8GB of onboard RAM plus 8GB via HONOR RAM Turbo and 256GB of internal storage.
The 6.7″ AMOLED screen boasts a 120Hz refresh rate at 1080×2412 resolution, with a 93.7% screen-to-body ratio, which should be great for watching movies on the go without the bezel distraction. It supports 16.7 million colours and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, with a pixel density of 394 PPI.
Peak brightness reaches an impressive 3,500 nits, so the display’s outdoor performance should be comparable to indoors.
Other features include Automatic Brightness Adjustment for smoother transitions between lighting conditions and an E-Book Mode that softens the display for reading. It’s also practical with IP64-rated wet-hand touch support, which means the 400 Lite 5G will operate in light rain or with damp hands, and the phone has earned SGS Five-Star Drop Resistance Certification.
The 5,230mAh battery should be enough to deliver all-day performance for most travellers. Thanks to 35W HONOR Wired SuperCharge, charging is fast, with the phone reaching 100% in just 75 minutes. HONOR 400 Lite 5G runs on MagicOS 9.0, HONOR’s custom Android 15-based interface.
It’s offered in three colours: Velvet Grey, Velvet Black, and a striking Marrs Green. The back panel is crafted using an Excimer process, creating a soft mist finish that avoids glare while feeling smooth and slightly textured to the touch.

The HONOR 400 Lite 5G will be available in the UK from 22nd April at honor.com, starting at £249.
It will also be available this spring through EE, O2, Three, Vodafone, Argos, Currys, Amazon, and Very, as well as in the Republic of Ireland through Three and Harvey Norman.
