Lenovo USB-C Laptop Power Bank

Long before the sleek unibody designs of todays laptops, most models had swappable batteries.  Just power down, flip the laptop over, engage a slide clip or 2, swap over the external facing battery and you were good to go!

ThinkPad even went a step further!  The media bays (CD/DVD/DVD-RW) were user swappable and you could purchase an option that was a DVD drive shaped battery pack to fit in the media bay! I used this set-up on my ThinkPad T23 and could comfortably get a day and half to two full days of work done.  Just!

My point here is when laptops first became common place, we knew they were restricted by their battery capacities and we allowed for this in the design.  But, somewhere along the way sleek style became more important than such functionality.

Features

The Lenovo Laptop Power Bank is compatible with any USB-C powered notebook and their own Slip-Tip connection for charging when on the go.  It has a 14,000mAh capacity battery which is not the biggest on the market but with extra capacity comes additional weight and size!

There are no quoted charge times as every device and connection will deliver different results, although the expectation is around an average 6 hours of additional power.  However, the Power Bank has two very useful features that mean it will be ready whenever you need it.

Firstly, it has pass-thru charging capabilities.  You can plug it in to a power source to charge for your travels and connect your notebook to it and charge your device at the same time.  Then there is the standby time!

Lenovo are quoting a very impressive 365 days of power storage for the Power Bank!  I wouldn’t expect a 100% charge to remain after that time, but to have it as an insurance policy when on the move could be valuable.

There are an additional 2 x USB-A ports for tablet and/or smartphone charging with the device taking around two hours to fully charge. On the main edge with the ports there is a 4-LED display to indicate the remaining power.
