TECH News: Weekly Round Up

Access Pack UK Release

Back at the start of June, I covered the Access Pack from The North Face, which was billed for a July UK release, having been launched in the US earlier in the year.

The Access Pack is now on sale in the UK as of Thursday, 21st July.  Three versions are for sale online, <a href=”https://www.thenorthface.co.uk/ for men (Black & Grey Heather) and one women’s version (Grey Heather w/rose inner lining). The only difference, other than the colours, is the women’s model has a back panel and shoulder straps that have been designed to better fit a woman’s torso.

When it went on sale in the US the RRP was $235, which I hoped would lead to a sub £200 price tag here. Sadly that was not to be and all 3 models are priced at £215!

There is no denying it is a feature heavy backpack and will come with the build quality The North Face are known for, but £215 for a commuter backpack might be hard to swallow for some! Although at time of writing the Men’s Black Heather model has already sold out!

iPhone Rumor Mill

We are a couple of months away from the expected announcement, pre sale, sale and hysteria of the next iPhone to be released by Apple. Thought to be the iPhone 7, it seems the usual rumor mill is unsure what will or will not be included in this iteration of the best selling handset.

  • Possible removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack.
  • A dual lens camera on the plus model.
  • A Pro model to join the standard and plus versions.
  • Lightening to 3.5mm jack to compensate for the missing headphone port.
  • A new colour to the range.
  • Removal of the antenna bands at the rear of the handset.

There are also some  suggestions that the potential “7” model will only have small changes from the current 6s range.  Next year marks 10 years of the iPhone and many are expecting big things at the 2017 release.

The next product launch is expected sometime in September.
