News: A New Concept from Loctote Bag Co

5

Earlier this week we had a friendly follow on twitter from the Loctote Bag Co, so we headed over to their Kickstarter page to see what all the hype was about.

Flak Sack: The Theft-Proof Drawstring Backpack.

Described as “a portable safe” the Flak sack is a drawstring daysack backpack that seems to have every base covered in terms of securing your belongings in a modern looking stylish bag.

There is a video on the kickstarter page that demonstrates the durability of the bag, from the slash proof main fabric, to the reinforced drawstring and the many other uses for it.

At the moment it seems to only be available in 2 colours, Steel Grey and Sunsplash Orange along with 4 different ropes, although at launch not all bag to rope combinations are selectable on the Kickstarter project.  Reading the feedback though, there are many asking for this to be the case.

If the backpack is as robust and secure as it is claimed, then this could be a great additon to every range of travellers kit.

p style=”padding-left:30px;text-align:center;”>“LOCTOTE™ bags are crafted from a double-layer of the most advanced cut resistant fabric in the world. Woven from a proprietary blend of high molecular weight polyethylene (HMWPE) and other state-of-the-art fibers, the fabric was originally developed for use in high performance body armor and personal protection under-garments for law enforcement, corrections, and security workers. Our bags have the highest possible Blade Cut Resistance, Tear Resistance, and Abrasion Resistance ratings based on international (ISO) and European (EN) standards. Our bags are 5 times more cut resistant than Kevlar®, a material known for its use in bulletproof vests.”
For example (with the exception of short business trips) whenever I travel I tend to pack my Black Wolf Aeron20 daysack. So when I reach my destionation I can have a daysack instead of my main travel rucksack to carry with me.  The Flak Sack could easily fulfill this role and take up less space when being packed. Or even used as a secure pouch within another rucksack.

My immediate lightbulb moment for it though would be beach holidays. You would probably have the designer sunglasses, phone, room keys, money etc by the sunbed at the beach and all want to head into the sea. With the Flak Sack you would be happy to know your belongings will be safe.

At present the Kickstarter campaign has exceeded it’s initial goal of $18k and is sat at $40k but has a few pledges remaining if you want to get in early for one or two of these bags, as they have worldwide shipping.

We will be following the progress of the campaign and hope this one takes off.  A great idea.
