STM Goods 65W Travel Charger Review

Rating: 3 out of 5.

STM Goods is an Australian brand whose sole purpose is to design and create products that help us travel smarter and protect our valuable gadgets on every journey.

I’ve had the pleasure of testing out some of their products on my travels, such as the MagPod and Myth Backpack, both of which impressed me.

So, I was keen to see how the STM Goods 65W Travel Charger would perform.

Features STM Goods 65W Travel Charger Review

The STM Goods 65W Travel Charger is designed to provide reliable power for multiple devices in over 150 countries. It features GaN technology and three charging ports and aims to be a compact travel charger for frequent travellers.

The compact design includes US foldable prongs built into the charger and additional Quick-Snap attachments for UK, EU, and AU configurations.

It’s built with GaN (Gallium Nitride) technology, which should be a standard feature for travellers seeking their next travel adapter. Compared to traditional silicon-based chargers, this technology allows devices to maintain a relatively small form factor while handling high power output efficiently.

There are three ports available: two USB-C and a single USB-A port. The USB-C port can each output a maximum of 65W when only one is in use, while both support PD 3.0 charging. The USB-A has a maximum output of 30W.

The STM Goods travel charger supports a wide range of devices, including lower-powered laptops that support USB-C charging, tablets, smartphones and any other smaller USB-powered devices.

Hands-On STM Goods 65W Travel Charger Review

The STM Goods 65W Travel Charger is a decent power solution for those needing a multi-device travel charger with USB-C and USB-A ports. However, its power limitations when multiple devices are connected, and its lack of fast charging across all ports keep it from being the best 65W travel charger available.

For those who don’t need universal plug support beyond the UK, EU, and AU and are okay with its powersharing limitations, it remains a solid, but not exceptional, option.

Using only the C1 port with a 100W cable, I tested the charging power on a 25,000mAh power bank that can handle up to 100W input. However, the 65W max output only delivered 61W.

The onboard powersharing worked well, and when an iPhone 16 Pro was attached to the C2 port, the STM Goods Travel Charger routed the power to a 40/20 split. After completing the charges, the travel adapter was warm to touch but nowhere near as hot as a non-GaN charger would have been.

Initially, the orange quick-release catches on the additional power prongs felt slightly fiddly and gave the impression they might not withstand repeated use. However, true to STM’s reputation for build quality, the mechanism proved exceptionally robust. Throughout the review period, the charger remained on my desk, and despite hundreds of latch engagements, many of them idle fidgeting, it has continued to function flawlessly.

Final Thoughts STM Goods 65W Travel Charger Review

This is a small travel adapter, and if you live in or are travelling to the US, it’s a far better option than most all-in-one travel adapters with retractable power prongs.

Anywhere else, you’ll need to remember where you left the prongs before leaving home to ensure you’ve attached them.

While I do like the smaller form factor on these swappable prong travel adapters, I’d expect, at a minimum, a small drawstring bag to keep the adapters safe and together between trips.

The build quality is evident in all STM Goods I’ve reviewed. While they often opt for the less-than-glamorous beige/white plastic, you can trust STM devices will last significantly longer than some better-looking, fancier models.

With a maximum 65W output, the STM Goods Travel Charger is suitable for anyone who travels with any power-hungry device up to a MacBook Air or tablet.

MacBook Pro users may want to look elsewhere or bring the Apple brick!
