The press invitations have been emailed, and the Apple event page has been updated for its latest product launch. The event logo, which Apple always uses to give a sneak peek of what is to come, features imagery that subtly confirms the heavily rumoured new iPad models.

This Apple event is expected to unveil new iPad Pro models equipped with OLED displays, a significant upgrade in screen technology that should offer enhanced colour accuracy and contrast. Additionally, Apple is rumoured to be introducing a 12.9-inch iPad Air, which will once again probably serve as a slightly less expensive alternative to the larger Pro model.

In recent iterations, Air has made Pro-level features more accessible to a broader range of consumers or those on a tighter budget. So it will be interesting to see what a larger version of the tablet will offer to bridge the gap between that and a 12.9″ Pro model.

Beyond the iPads themselves, Apple is also expected to launch at least one new accessory, most likely a new version of the Apple Pencil, which intriguingly is part of the design of the Apple logo for the event. This will be the third generation of Apple’s drawing device.

While rumours about any Apple event often involve a lot of speculation, there has been little news about a possible new iPad mini. This is a shame, given how great the current 6th-generation model is! The event’s focus appears firmly set on the new Pro and Air models.

Overall, the May 7 event is shaping up to be great for anyone ready to upgrade their current iPad.
