Best of the Rest

No one wants to take a load of valuables to any festival, and nowadays the Smartphone has has managed to reduce the need to do so.With music, camera, video recorder and apps galore you have most of what you need in the palm of your hand.

However, if you do fancy a few mod cons to upgrade your tent, the below is a round up of low cost tech that can be kept on your person but still deliver.

Remember only take to a festival what you don’t mind leaving behind and if in doubt keep valuables on you at all times!

Muvo Mini by Creative

The saying “you get what you pay for” tends to stand true when it comes to portable bluetooth speakers but Creative may have cracked it with the Muvo Mini.

The Muvo comes in 4 colours and is packed with features:

  • 10hrs Battery life
  • Bluetooth & NFC pairing
  • 285g in weight
  • Weatherproof
  • Aux port
  • 32ft range from source to speaker

Usually low priced speakers tend to lack the most important aspect, sound. The Muvo though is the opposite, with not only great sound but a good battery life all wrapped up in an ok looking weatherproof unit.

You can pick one up direct from Creative online store for £39.99 with free shipping.

Flak Sack by LocTote

If you want a low profile bag to keep your valuables safe and on your person then the Loctote Flak Sack is for you.

We covered this day sack on the site in April. For the purpose of this review we will highlight why this should be top of your festival must have list.

  • Cut/Slash resistant
  • Water Resistant
  • Secure Locking system
  • Low profile/can be worn under clothing

For the super cautious the bag also includes RFID blocking technology! This might be one for next year though as this is just coming out of a very successful indiegogo campaign with shipping starting for the early backers. We would still recommend getting in now while backing is still open.

Tile

If you have a habit of losing stuff or leaving it somewhere then investing in Tile might be for you!

Tile is a Bluetooth tracker you can attach to your tech or place inside a wallet/purse or bag and allow you to track it via the free smartphone app (iOS | Android). Providing you are within 100ft of your missing item the app should be able to locate it and can play out an audible ring. What if it’s the phone you have lost though! Fear not. Double press your Tile and it rings your phone for you!

You can pick up Tile at Amazon starting at £19.99 for a single Tile up to £139.99 for a pack of 12.

Personal Alarm

Firstly, this is not for rigging up to your tent for when you are away. More so for when you are in it at night asleep. Having myself woken up at 3am to find someone in our tent trying to steal kit, this can come in handy.

Something like the EPOSGear Minder which can be picked up from Amazon for £7.89 is worth a look. At night you can attach the pin to the tent zip and should anyone try to enter they will trigger the alarm. Best to avoid if you are a bad drunk or have a weak bladder!
