Entering the AI generation of handsets, the new Samsung Galaxy S24 series has been launched in the first major Unpacked event of the year and boasts some new cutting-edge technology.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Series marks a significant leap in the evolution of mobile technology. This new lineup, including the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24, introduces AI features that promise to redefine smartphone capabilities.

And Samsung is not holding back with Gemini, Google’s largest AI model yet, behind the power of all three S24 handsets.

There’s more good news, too. Owners of current models, although likely to be any 2023 handsets onwards, will also benefit from at least some of the new AI features announced at Unpacked.

Samsung Galaxy S24

On paper, the specifications point to a modern, high-performance smartphone tailored for both tech enthusiasts and travellers. This sleek device, available in Yellow, Gray, Violet, and Black, measures 146.3 x 70.9 x 7.6 mm and weighs 167g, with an IP68 rating for durability.

It runs on Android 14 with One UI version 6.1 and supports dual Nano-SIMs across 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks, including eSIM capabilities.

The 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display offers FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate for crisp, smooth visuals. Under the hood, the Galaxy S24 is powered by a Deca-Core processor, available in either the Exynos 2400 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. It is accompanied by the Xclipse 940 GPU (for the Exynos version), making it a robust choice for demanding apps.

The Galaxy S24 series is packed with sophisticated AI features that make chatting across different languages effortless. It’s a perfect match for anyone who often travels internationally. Thanks to the AI-powered Samsung Keyboard, the phone can translate messages as you type, smoothing the way for natural and easy conversations.

The rear camera is equipped with a high-resolution 50MP sensor and enhanced Nightography, ensuring every snapshot is vivid and detailed. This allows users to capture their adventures in stunning clarity, day or night.

Samsung Galaxy S24+

Comparing the Galaxy S24 and S24+, the key differences lie in size, display, and battery life.

While both models boast similar high-resolution cameras and advanced AI features, the S24+ offers a larger screen at 6.7″, providing a more immersive visual experience and a bigger battery for extended usage.

The S24 and S24+ both feature a 12MP Ultra-Wide Camera with an F2.2 aperture and a 120Ëš field of view, ideal for capturing expansive landscapes or large group shots.

The 50MP Wide Camera, boasting Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) with an F1.8 aperture and an 85Ëš field of view, ensures high-resolution, clear images even in challenging lighting conditions. For zoom capabilities, both models include a 10MP Telephoto Camera with 3x Optical Zoom.

These enhancements make the S24+ a more suitable option for users who prioritize screen real estate and longer battery life without compromising the quality of photography and overall performance.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra introduces groundbreaking advancements in smartphone durability and display quality. It features Corning’s latest innovation, Gorilla Armor, a new cover material that significantly enhances the device’s toughness and visual clarity.

This material is specifically designed to reduce reflection by up to 75%, significantly enhancing display readability and minimizing screen reflections in various environments.

In rigorous lab tests, Gorilla Armor has shown superior durability and over four times more scratch resistance than conventional aluminosilicate cover glasses.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra AI capabilities amplify nearly every aspect of the smartphone experience. For instance, Galaxy AI includes the same intelligent text and call translations.

The Galaxy’s ProVisual Engine maximizes creative freedom, transforming how users capture and interact with visual content. Additionally, AI is pivotal in redefining search functionalities and changing how Galaxy users explore and discover the world around them.

Equipped with the Snapdragon® 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform, which has been optimized for Galaxy users, it will deliver significant improvements in AI processing, thanks to the advanced Neural Processing Unit (NPU).

The AI also contributes to gaming experiences, with hardware and software improvements for more lifelike visuals and efficient thermal control. Security-wise, the device features Samsung Knox, a multi-layer security platform that protects critical information.
