UGREEN GaN 65W PD Fast Charger – $39/£36
Estimated reading time: 7 minutes
UGREEN has continued its push into the travel tech accessory market with its latest charger, a 65W 4-port fast-charging power adapter that can handle almost anything you’ll want to charge.
If you’ve read any of the other reviews on {Tech} for Travel, you’ll know UGREEN devices are well-made, budget-friendly and reliable. Everything you need when travelling and, so far, they’ve all performed well above their respective price tags.
I was keen to review the new GaN PD 65W Charger with such a track record to see if it lived up to the expectations.
With the popularity, high-frequency use, more and more devices come with Type-C charging, adhering to the design concept of All in One, we put 3 USB-C (Type-C) and USB-A ports in this little cube charger.

UGREEN 65W GaN Charger Features
Built on GaN (Gallium nitride) technology, which produces less heat and allows devices to be more compact, this 65W charger has a small form factor while supplying 4-port charging for almost every device.
I will point out that while it can support larger 16″ laptops, they often require around 100W chargers.
There are 3 USB-C ports and a single USB-A that provide support for nearly any fast charging protocol you could need.
Finished in a matt black colour, the casing is made from hard plastic with an etched pattern on the side panels that hide any small scuffs well, which means it will look good, trip after trip.
Unfortunately, the power prongs are not interchangeable! There are models for the US, UK, and EU power sockets, so you’ll need to piggyback the UGREEN 65W charger on an adapter for foreign trips. The US model does, however, fold them down when not in use.

Power Delivery
UGREEN claims its new charger can reach up to 65W of charging, but this is only achievable with a single device using the C1 or C2 ports. This is the same on all other similar competitor models too.
When multiple devices are on charge, the intelligent onboard system ensures the power is spread across the ports in use. This slows the charge time down slightly but gets more devices powered faster. UGREEN says the Fast Charge capability can power most devices whose protocols are supported, up to 50% charge inside 30 minutes.
I put this to the test to review the UGREEN 65W Charger with a 13″ MacBook Pro, a Nintendo Switch, a Lenovo YOGA Smart Tab and an iPhone 11 Pro on the USB-A port.
All were completely flat and started to charge at the same time. I used either the OEM cable or similar, but suitable for the power needed.
Device | Port | 50% Charge (hr:min) | 100% Charge (hr:min) |
Apple MacBook Pro 13″ | C1 | 1:36 | 3:02 |
Apple iPad Pro 11″ | C2 | 1:06 | 2:18 |
Lenovo YOGA Smart Tab | C3 | 1:54 | 3:41 |
Apple iPhone 11 Pro | A | 0:42 | 2:49 |
Design & Build
Your opinion on the UGREEN 65W PD Charger design will come down to which model you use or purchase. For the review, I tested a UK version.
Along with the EU adapter, the UK has a fixed prong connector. However, on the US model, the prongs fold flat into the side of the 65W Charger, giving a nice compact cube for packing away.

This isn’t the end of the world in terms of being travel-friendly, as aside from the prong connectors, the charger is the same and great for almost all modern-day tech. Sadly, though, the prongs are not detachable and interchangeable, which may put some off from taking the UGREEN as a serious travel charger.
However, if you’re a frequent traveller to or in the US or EU/UK, using this as a replacement to a travel adapter should be a serious consideration.
