Earbuds fitting correctly can always be a bit hit and miss depending on the shape of your ear; however, the new Bose QuietComfort Earbuds 2 overcomes this problem with new EarTip Fit kits and CustomTune technology.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds 2

The portable audio market is booming right now, and consumers are spoilt for choice as all the top manufacturers offer headphones and earbuds at most price points.

Therefore to stand out with a new product, brands will need to offer something different, and Bose may have the answer to this and the age-old problem of correctly fitting buds with its new QuietComfort Earbuds 2.

Along with a new design over the original QuietComfort earbuds, these new Bose buds will come with an EarTips fit kit, offering up to nine different fits.

Thanks to a complete overhaul of the original buds and a smaller design, QC Earbuds 2 now sit more inside the ear rather than out of it. This shift is to further improve the Noise Cancellation abilities of the buds and to complement this, Bose has introduced CustomTune Technology.

Every time the buds are removed from the charging case and fitted, a tone is played into the ear, and one of the four microphones captures the acoustic response of the ear canal, Bose says. The buds will then tailor the playback performance uniquely for the wearer.

Yet, this software is only half of the Noise cancellation story on the QC Earbuds 2. Many earbuds today will ship with different-sized tips. Bose has gone further and will include a new Fit Kit with the QuietComfort Earbuds 2.

The kit will comprise three sizes of silicone eartips and three Stability bands. Combined, these will offer nine unique fits, which Bose hopes will suit any ear shape and size. The Stability Bands are fitted around the edge of the buds that sit within the ear to provide a more secure fit.

Bose will let you put this new package to the test within the Bose Music app (Android | Apple) and run the Fit Test.

Since we brought noise cancellation to the market, we’ve remained passionate about pushing boundaries in engineering, technology, and design – and the QuietComfort Earbuds II are the latest result of that commitment.

Having achieved the perfect fit and with the buds running the CustomTune technology the moment they are fitted, Bose says the QC Earbuds 2 will deliver music to be heard “as the artist intended”.

The noise cancellation performance has been improved in this generation and can target previously hard-to-detect external sounds and neutralise them.

This same technology can be flipped and now offers a better transparency experience, which Bose is now calling Aware Mode.

In Aware Mode, the new Bose buds will allow sounds in but still monitor for overly loud background noises and reduce them before reaching your ear and enabling you to have the conversation you want without being disturbed by other sounds.

There are no groundbreaking new numbers for the QuietComfort Buds 2 with a promise of up to 6 hours of playback with ANC on and the provided charging case holding a further three full charges worth of power. Resulting in around 24 hours of use in between charges.

While on charge, the buds will need 2 hours to reach total capacity however, a short 20 minutes in the case will deliver about 2 hours of listening time.

The charging case will need three hours of charging over USB-C and has no support for Qi Wireless charging.

This, along with the lack of multipoint connection, are strange omissions from Bose, given the premium price tag and the latest Bluetooth 5.3 technology which is present.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds 2 will initially come in Triple Black only, and later in 2022, they will start to ship in a light cream colour called Soapstone.
