Luggage and Formula 1 collaborations have been done before, but few will argue, so successfully as this. The new premium luggage collection between TUMI | McLaren really is impressive in design, and price.
TUMI | McLaren Premium Luggage Collection
The new TUMI & McLaren collaboration has 9 pieces, creating a very premium collection that is bound to catch the eye of many travellers this year.
It comprises an Expandable Carry-On, a Backpack & duffel bag, a File Organizer, a Sling Pack and 4 smaller accessory items that complement each other and share the same styling.
All 9 items are finished in Black, some with carbon fibre details, and has the McLaren signature Papaya Orange built into each design to complete them.
Aero International Expandable 4 Wheel Carry-On $1,550 | £845
The new Aero International Carry-On case is at the heart of this new collection. It’s an expandable 36L case seated on 4 sets of dual spinner wheels that will ensure better mobility and can be used in either a pull-behind or push alongside style.
The outside is made from a mix of Black Ballistic Nylon, a moulded front panel and CX6® carbon fibre on either side to provide a strong and robust shell. On the left-hand edge, as you look at the case, there’s a concealed external USB port for charging devices on the go.
The case, however, doesn’t come with a power bank included!

If you thought the exterior was a work of art, the internal furnishing will equally please you. The TUMI case can either open as a standard clamshell-style or via a quick access panel on the front. There are more nods to the TUMI | McLaren partnership inside the Carry-On with name badges and the compression straps resemble a racing harness, usually meant for holding a driver into place instead of your belongings.
In the main compartment, there’s a hook and suit carrier that will sit/hang over the compression straps for crease-free clothing.
The TUMI | McLaren Aero International Expandable 4 Wheel Carry-On is finished with dual zips, TSA lock and a 3 stage telescopic handle.
Velocity Backpack $950 | £550
Following on from the Carry-on, the Velocity Backpack continues the same styling, Papaya Orange detailing and CX6® carbon fibre accents on the outside of the bag. At the back, there’s a large luggage strap for connecting the pack to the Carry-On and dual water bottle pockets, one on either side.
As an extra level of security, and to stop them from crashing together, the two zippers for the main compartment are magnetic and stick together at the top of the pack when it’s fully closed. The pack is not a full clamshell design, so only opens up slightly, to around 45° with the lid/top door held in place by rip-stop fabric “hinges”.
There’s plenty of storage for all of your devices inside including a padded tablet pocket, 2 media pockets, a card pocket and hook for your keys and of course the TUMI Tracer. A separate compartment at the back can hold up to a 15″ laptop.

Duffel & Accessories
The final large piece that makes up the TUMI | McLaren Luggage collection is the Quantum Duffel. Unlike many duffel bags, the Quantum does have a padded laptop compartment along with the main storage section which makes it more tech-friendly than most.
In fact it has several compartments and pockets including a side section for shoes that has a waterproof lining. The Quantum again follows the same colour scheme and has the TUMI Add-a-Bag Sleeve (luggage strap) so it can be paired with the Carry-On.
Across the accessories section, is a packing cube suitable for smaller items, a utility pouch & cross-body sling and an expandable document organiser.
Lastly, the Teron Travel Kit has an antibacterial lining and meant to be a wash bag for the collection, but I think it would make a great pack for all of your chargers and smaller tech items you travel with.
With the exception of the travel tag, all pieces in the collection have TUMI Tracer and most of the larger packs can all have a personalised Monogram added.
